The ski area "Dachstein West" is Upper Austria's largest family ski area.

Here you will find 140 km of slopes with guaranteed snow and all levels of difficulty:

  • 12 km easy

  • 113 km medium

  • 15 km difficult


The capacity of the 45 lifts and cable cars ensures short waits.

A factor that is highly appreciated by our guests: The hotel-owned heated ski room directly at the valley station of the “Hornspitzbahn” (the best access to the ski area Dachstein-West) can be reached with a walk of only 2 minutes.

You have never been on alpine or cross-country skis or a snowboard before, or you want to perfect your skills?

Highly trained ski instructors will professionally take care of you in group classes or private lessons. The offer covers a funny Bambini Club as well as cool lessons for children and youngsters and attractive teaching units for adults.

Under the same roof there is also a ski and snowboard rental shop providing always a ski or snowboard equipment in perfect condition.

Skigebiet Dachstein West - das Brumsiland für die Kleinen

 

And one of the most family-friendly attractions of the ski region Dachstein-West - the “Brumsiland” for kids - is within walking distance from the Sommerhof: A snowy world of adventure with magic carpet, a wave track and the ”Brumsi”-meadow with many fairy tale characters. And once a week, there is even the possibility of floodlight skiing in Brumsiland.

Here should be mentioned that there is the possibility of “night skiing” at certain times and on several slopes – indeed a unique experience. We can talk about some more details when you are here.

Next to the valley station of the “Hornspitzbahn” (and thus in close proximity to the Sommerhof) you will find a  higlight for snowboarders - the Playground snowpark with on own private park lift. Even freeriders will be amazed by this spectacular fun park with jumps, slides, corners, boxes and wava rides.

The adjacent (15 minutes by car) Free Sports Arena Krippenstein with the longest downhill of Upper Austria (11 km) and a challenging high alpine area for ski tours is a true Paradise for freeriders and ski mountaineers.
