A holiday at Hotel Sommerhof in the summer
Relax and be active in unspoilt nature
In the summer you experience blossoming nature in all its many facets around Hotel Sommerhof. Hiking and biking at higher altitudes, exploring the untouched environment and enjoying the sunshine by the hotel pool or by stunning mountain lakes.
Be active in the summer around the Sommerhof family hotel
Whether you want to take a hike or prefer e-biking, the vast outdoors awaits you on the doorstep of the Hotel Sommerhof. Hike to the Löckernmoos, a place of power where the Gosaukamm is magically reflected in the water, hike around the Gosau lakes or up to the Ebenalm mountain pasture or let us show you the region on our guided hikes from the hotel.
Mountain bikers can enjoy numerous routes in and around the Gosau valley in the summer. For a cycling tour with the family we recommend the Gosaubach Trail or East Bank Trail by picturesque Lake Hallstatt.
Lots of family day trip destinations also have peak season in the summer, for example Hallstatt and the show mine, the "Primeval Forest" adventure park, summer tobogganing and the ice caves on the Dachstein.
Unspoilt nature still defends its rightful place in Gosau. In the summer you can enjoy splendid colourful fields of natural wild flowers, come across peaceful herds of cows and sheep and witness down-to-earth customs. Enjoy the easy, laid-back life in the Gosau valley where you can unwind superbly surrounded by untouched nature and hospitable people.
Swimming fun in the summer
Even though the pool, sunbathing lawn and playground provide a relaxing time at the hotel, you should also schedule a day trip to one of the many Salzkammergut lakes in the summer. Whether it's at the idyllic Gosau lake just a stone's throw away or at the Hallstätter See, Mondsee, Attersee, Wolfgangsee or Fuschlsee lakes: you can enjoy the crystal clear waters in a variety of ways from boat trips to water sports and a swimming afternoon.
Special events and entertainment in the summer in Salzkammergut
The event highlight can be found in Bad Ischl in the summer in Salzkammergut: every year around 18 August, the Emperor's birthday, it's not just fans of nostalgia that crowd into Bad Ischl when the whole town brings the Imperial and Royal era to life again. In addition, the Salzkammergut region is also enriched by concerts performed by local artists such as Hubert von Goisern, Die Seer and others in the summer.
The vintage car rally and mountain bike trophy are also a crowd puller every year, whether you're competing yourself or just a spectator.
We have one special tip for you in August: when you travel out onto Gosau lakein a full moon, you can see the moon rising right over the Dachstein – a romantic natural spectacle, which some guests travel here especially for.
